-Old Business-


*  KU Student Organization Funding- We are days..minutes..seconds away from being funded by KU's
   Student Org.! Everyone please think of things you would like to see done with our funding. This
   could be something with the department or ideas for trips etc. Bring up ideas at the next meeting or
   reply to this message.

* Semester Plans: Dates, locations, and events are still to be announced, but stay posted on
   events and trips that will happen throughout the rest of the semester. These include: SKYWARN
   Training, a trip to the FAA Technical Center in Atlantic City, and the Northeast Storms Conference.

* Are you a member of the AMS yet? If not, we strongly advise you to become one! For you students,
   it is as simple as filling out an application and a $15 fee as a student member. Here is the link to
   become a member: https://secure.ametsoc.org/newmember/index.cfm. The same goes for the NWA;
   fill out the application and send a $25 fee. The web site is:

* Anyone interested in teaching middle school math or science? CAMS (Consortium for Achievement in
  Mathematics and Science) is offering scholarships for qualifying Sophomore and Junior students. If  
  you are interested or would like more information please contact Mariela Scarco msarco@kean.edu or 
  Dr.Dobosiewicz jdobosie@kean.edu.

* Scholarships: Not only does the Kean University Foundation provide scholarships (where you can
  print the application: http://keanfoundation.org/scholarships_application.html ) but NOAA is offering
  a few undergraduate scholarships one of which is the Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship
  (http://www.oesd.noaa.gov/hollings_uspa/index.html ) and the deadline has been extended to
  February 22, 2008.

*  Looking for research this summer? See Dr. Croft if you are interested in working on an SPF
   (Students Partnering with Faculty) project- Convection in New Jersey. For more information visit the 
   the research office at Kean University web site: http://orsp.kean.edu.

* Spring Elections: Elections for next year's officers will be held before Spring break. Nominations have
   been made and are open until February 13th. So far these are the Nominations:
                            - President: Victoria, Darren, Matt
                            - Vice President: Darren, Jackie, Amanda, Will
                            - Secretary: Will, Jackie, Amanda
                            - Treasurer: Matt, Amanda

* 2008-2009 Officer nomination speeches will be held February 20th.
   Elections will be held on March 5th.

* What do you want to see at club meetings? If you have any ideas of activities, presentations,
   speakers, trips, anything please reply to this e-mail or contact Steve with any of your ideas!!

* AMS Minutes will be posted on the hurri website. Not only will the current Minutes be posted, but
  there will be archive as well AND the site will be finally updated!!
