• The paper must be typed (preferably from a word processor), double spaced on one side of the page. No handwritten paper will be accepted.

• There is no partial credit given to each assignment.  Your paper is either accepted (and you will get the whole credit for the paper) or rejected (and you will not get any credit for the paper).

You are going to use the World Wide Web to gather information on the Internet on 1 astronomy topic of your choice.  You need to include web addresses from at least 2 different Web domain (two different .com, .net or .org etc. sources.  For example, http://source1.kean.edu and http://source2.kean.edu have the same domain name and is considered a single source, whereas http://source1.kean.edu and http://source2.rutgers.edu are two different sources).

Answer the following questions in your paper :

1. the web page address of your first source
(when your instructor types in this URL address, he should be able to go directly to the information that you are using without looking around)
2. the name of the author(s) and/or the organization that publish this web page
3. in your opinion, how reliable is the source and why ?
4. the web page address of your second source (similar topic to your first web page)
5. the name of the author(s) and/or the organization that publish this web page
6. in your opinion, how reliable is the source and why ?
7. repeat (1) to (3) if you have additional web pages on the same topics
8. Summarize the information and knowledge that you have learned from these web pages (no more than 1 page)

You are required to read and write a short summary (2-3 pages) on one full length Journal article (not news, not editor's comments, AND the article is at least 2 pages or more in length) from one of the following magazines:

• Astronomy
• Mercury
• Sky and Telescope
• Scientific American (only Astronomy related article)
• Science (only Astronomy related article)

other journal publication has to be pre-approved by the instructor

A PHOTOCOPY of the paper MUST be included with this assignment, not the electronic version.

• Your paper will be rejected if you include the original article even you own the journal.
• It is also NOT acceptable to use any WWW or other electronic databases.  The photocopy from the actual journal is required.

You are only writing a summary of the article that you have read. You are not writing a paper on a subject matter.
