To understand what GEOGRAPHY is about, we are traveling to a region of your choice. Money is unlimited but time is limited to
about 8 to 10 days. On a daily
itinerary basic,
identify the regions / cities that you would like to visit and explain the reason behind your choices (can be
popular tourist places or remote hard to reach places depending how
adventurous you are !)
- Review Chapter 2 : Concepts in World Regional Geography
- Pick a Chapter from the textbook from Chapter 4 to Chapter 11 (exclude Chapter 3 for Europe and Chapter 12 for North America). This will determine the region of your travel.
- For the purpose of this assignment, going from one place to the
other can be assumed to be instantaneously.
- There must be a theme for each day's activities and you should be
able to write down some basic facts and what you expect to see or
experience.
- You must include themes from both "physical geography" and "human
geography"
- Examples of Physical Geography or Natural Environments:
hiking/mountain biking/climbing/aerial views
in the mountain ranges/plains/plateaus, cruise/white water in the
rivers, adventures in the forest/grassland/dessert, or just visit
places with special natural resources or ecosystems etc.
- Examples of Human Geography :
visiting places with historical significant, unique culture or religion
centers, local customs etc. You can visit a local family/restaurant and
write something what the "local custom" or "local cuisine",
or visit a local school and write something about the
education system, or have a shopping trip to write something about
economy, or visit a government agency to write something about politics.
- Maps, graphs of various data/statistics are strongly encouraged
to be included.
- Relevant photos should be included also but please do not overdo
it.
