Assignment 1 : Choosing a topics for Project 1 from Digital Library for Earth System Education (see syllabus 1a)

Reminder of Important Due Dates :
Project 1 oral presentation : September 28, 30

9-12 minutes for presentation : points will be lost for presentation shorter than 8 minutes and longer than 15 minutes.
presentation IS NOT COPYING FROM your paper !!! [What is one thing that you want the audience to remember after your presentation ?]
3 minutes for questions and answers

Project 1 written report due : September 28 (for everyone !)

must follow the format of written scientific paper

clearly identify source of data or observation used
clearly identify method of study
clearly identify results that are "directly" from the data or observation that are presented in the paper

must include bibliography from library database search (format is not important here, just a collection of information.
must include literature from at least 3 different "journal articles" or "magazine articles"

a copy of the articles used must be included separately as supplementary information
web based information can be used and do not need to be included the printout as part of the paper as long as you use proper references.

Must follow exactly one style in writing references (see http://hurri.kean.edu/~yoh/seminar/bibliography.html )
